Could Bryce Harper Become a Member of the 3,000 Hit Club?

Bryce Harper has had a seriously impressive postseason across the end of 2022. The Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter/outfielder is a fan-favorite and absolutely one to watch as we progress into 2023.

Harper helped the Phillies cement their first World Series spot since 2009 via 6 home runs and 13 RBI in 17 postseason games. They included a two-run home run in the fifth game against the San Diego Padres on October 23d.

However, the Phillies were kicked out of the World Series by the Houston Astros in a 4-2 match.

In the past season, 30-year old Harper hit 18 home runs with 16 RBI, and a 0.286 batting average – this is all from 370 at-bats. Sadly, Harper could not play from June 26th to August 25th after an injury. This injury still remains the biggest threat to his play in the upcoming matches.

3,000 hit journey

Over the past baseball season, we’ve seen Tigers FH Miguel Cabera become the 33rd MLB player to join the iconic 3,000 hit club.

Thanks to this excitement, fans are already looking for the next talented player to join the list. However, when you examine the current active players, no one is close to hitting the milestone just yet.

Over the last few years, the MLB has seen a lower batting average. This is partly due to the shortened pandemic season. Many fans don’t even believe these players have a chance.

Right now, Harper’s odds aren’t the best on Pennsylvania sportsbook sites and PA casino app. According to past trends of ability and age, Penn Stakes has stated Harper has “longshot” odds at achieving a spot in the club. Perhaps he won’t be the 34th member after all…

Will he or won’t he?

At the moment Harper is currently at 1,379 hits. This is under halfway to the 3,000 total, placing him in an unlikely position.

Harper would need to focus on his health and longevity over the next ten years to take control and step up his hit game. But Harper hasn’t always been so focused on this, and his current injuries put him in a vulnerable position.

With Haper’s 1,379 hits and his current age (30), Penn Stakes has decided he only has a +4900 or %2 of joining the 3,000 hit club. The odds aren’t in the Las Vegas player’s favor.

We now know Harper is set to extend his off-season rest into the start of the Phillies’ 2023 season. Make sure you still tune into the Phillies vs. the Texas Rangers on March 30th – April 2nd to see the starting action go down. The following game will be against the New York Yankees on the 3rd of April.

The seven-time All-Star, known to hit 285 career home runs, successfully underwent the UCL reconstruction of his right elbow with ulnar nerve transposition. Dr. Neal ElAttrache was responsible for the repair on November 23 in Los Angeles.

So the prognosis now is that Harper can return as the team’s hitter by July 10-13, 2023 (All-Star break). Experts hope he can return to right field by the end of the regular season. The defending NL champions will experience a wait-and-see approach, so it’s becoming even more unrealistic for Harper to threaten the 3,000 hit mark.
