Mohegan Pennsylvania is the New Name for the States First Retail Casino, and It Comes with a $10 Million Renovation Attached

The first commercial casino in Keystone State is going through a rebranding and new developments. Former Mohegan Sun Pocono changed its naming and will now add Mohegan Pennsylvania to the saturated gambling market in the state.

Aside from branding change, the property is going through a redevelopment phase named Project Starlight. The first PA gaming venue opened its doors in 2006 and will now get a facelift with Mohegan’s 237-room hotel renovation worth $10 million.

Project Starlight adds New Features and Amenities to Mohegan Casino

In a recent Yahoo Finance article, the Casino and hotel CEO Ray Pineault revealed why Mohegan decided to rebrand the company and simultaneously enhance the property looks.

Due to the fact that the customers, partners and stakeholders associated our brand with Mohegan, we decided to provide a new vision towards our values and capabilities by presenting a new title. We continue to grow in line with the Mohegan Tribe’s vision and create a synergy across all projects in the Mohegan portfolio, and Mohegan Pennsylvania will not be an exception.

Among new amenities, Project Starlight focuses on a new bar with live music. The Hive Taphouse features multiple big televisions, more than 20 tap beers, and a full dining menu.

The Hive will have additional gaming features like TopGolf Swing Suites, where you can compete with other users on the most notable PGA courses or try your skills at the Quarterback Challenge.

Summer Embers Terrace as a new entertainment mecca

Mohegan PA Casino opened another facility this summer. Embers Terrace is an outdoor bar with fire pits, live music, lawn games, and a selection of high-quality wines.

Anthony Carlucci, President and GM of Mohegan Pennsylvania, showed excitement in the article and elaborated.

“With a new name, revamped hotel, new attractions, and the continued unrivaled guest service that has exemplified our brand and all Mohegan properties, we’re thrilled about the next phase of Mohegan Pennsylvania.”

Mohegan Pennsylvania among leaders in September slot revenue

Mohegan Pennsylvania's location in Poconos and Wilkes-Barre tourist hotspots attracts numerous guests to their hotel and on-site spa. The amenities include a huge 20,000-square-foot convention center.

The casino part has four times the convention center space and features more than 1900 slot machines, 50 table games, and live harness racing. That’s a huge number as for a land-based establishment, but a common one if you consider the PA online casino app. Other highlights include dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Mohegan Casino is one of 16 retail houses in the competitive PA market. Lagging only Nevada in revenue, Mohegan participated in Keystone State gaming income as fourth in slots revenue and 11th in table games.

With the rebranding and recent development, Mohegan is trying to go above 10th place in total revenue for PA casinos.
