The New 17th Pennsylvania Casino Opening on Friday

Brand new Parx Shippensburg

The Keystone State gambling market is second only to Nevada and will get another 17th casino on Friday. However, some gamblers unaccustomed to the 21st-century modern casino floor might struggle to get used to it.

Some 145 miles west of Philadelphia, the latest PA casino will open in the college town of Shippensburg. In addition, a new venue in Cumberland County will be categorized as a mini-casino.

The Parx Pennsylvania brand already holds a full-size casino in Bensalem, Bucks Country. Aside from the venue in the Philadelphia suburbs, Parx is opening a mid-state smaller Casino in Shippensburg, a few minutes from Exit 29 off I-81.

What Is Mini-Casino?

Mini Casino is a category with limits in the number of slot machines, table games, and other gambling amenities. However, Parx Casino Shippensburg has 73,000 square feet and is more significant than some Atlantic City casinos from the 1970s and 1980s. Also, we should remind you that casino in PA are also legal.

The new Parx mini-casino venue will have 500 slots and 48 electronic table games. A new breed of table games called e-tables is also a part of the offering, and some customers might take some time to familiarize themselves with the new machines.

The Casino’s website promotes some of the new table games as “stadium” blackjack, roulette, or three-card poker. The company describes stadium blackjack as a hybrid game experience where clients can place a wager with a finger touch. Players will have an electronic betting terminal and can put a blackjack or optional side bet with the terminal.

Other stadium-marketed games also use electronic terminals instead of standing or sitting at traditional felt-covered gaming tables with casino chips. However, not all traditions are discarded, as live dealers will still deal with real cards and spin a roulette wheel.

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board gave Parx a license for a Category 4 casino last January.

Betting on Eagles in Shippensburg Mini-casino

Sports betting is legal in the Keystone State, so visitors will have several sports wagering kiosks at the new Shippensburg venue.

Aside from gaming and PA online sports betting, Parx will have other attractive amenities like a 100-seat restaurant with casual fare, platters, and pizzas. The Casino is a non-smoking establishment with an outdoor smoking patio and free parking lots. You can visit Parx Shippensburg from Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m.- 2 a.m. The Casino will work 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays; on Sunday, it will close at 2 a.m.
