WSOP Player of the Year in Pennsylvania is Former Dealer David “DrKool” Kuder

With a total of $70,406 in on-site earnings, Kuder got the first-ever WSOP PA Player of the Year.

David Kuder worked as a dealer at Wind Creek Casino, and about a year ago, he quit his job and started to play poker professionally. David “DrKool” Kuder is a long-time online poker player who transitioned to playing the entire schedule on WSOP Pennsylvania.

Kuder seemed to be on the right track after a year from a dealer job. He managed to cash in in 46 World Series of Poker events and got two Circuit rings. Kuder’s first win came at a $215 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha PKO where “DrKool” cashed $6801, and he was also the best at No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout event in July, which brought him $6160.

With a total of $70,406 in on-site earnings, Kuder got the first-ever WSOP PA Player of the Year.

The Path to the Best Player

David Kuder shared in a recent interview that he started playing poker in PA online casino app before the Moneymaker Boom. He stated that his willingness to play a lot of volume at all stakes is what separated him from the competition. Kuderad had 56,926 points in the POY race, with competition far behind at around 39,600 points.

David Kuder realized high-rollers are avoiding smaller tournaments where he accumulated points for the leaderboard. Omaha event was his first Circuit ring, and winning the second amid feisty competition felt great, according to “DrKool.”

The next goal for the current Player of the Year is getting the bracelet, and the experience of attending the Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas was a great experience.
Luckily, Pennsylvania is among the first states that regulate where the best players get to play such events.

Another Promising Year Ahead

David Kuder has ambitious plans for 2023, where he wants to play every ring and bracelet event, although he will skip some smaller tournaments. “DrKool,” thinks he could do better in live tournaments and will search for better placement in live events in PA and the WSOP.

Runner Ups

Edward “Uneedtherapy” Leonard was another PA player with a great year behind him. He finished the year with 39,672 points in the POY race. Zachary “CaptainLevi” Gruneberg was third with 39,598 points and also managed to win three Circuit rings with three runner-up spots. Other players in the top 10 include Dean Morrow, Michael Lavin, and Richard Ali, among others.
